Every day, approximately 47,000 vehicles and 7,600 cyclists and pedestrians cross the Algerabrug between Krimpen aan den IJssel and Capelle aan den IJssel.
From August 10 to September 7, 2026, major maintenance will be performed on the bridge, which was built in 1958, and it will be closed to traffic. Preparatory work will begin in late June.
During these four weeks, the Algerabrug will be closed to road traffic. Cyclists and pedestrians can use a temporary bridge or take the Waterbus between Krimpen aan den IJssel and Capelle aan den IJssel. The Waterbus will begin service earlier than scheduled and will continue operating later than scheduled.
From Monday, August 10, through Friday, September 4, 2026, the Waterbus will operate on weekdays starting at 6:05 a.m., traveling from the Stormpolder Waterbus stop to the Rivium Waterbus stop and back until 6:45 a.m. Starting at 6:45 a.m., we will resume our regular schedule.
On weekday evenings, Waterbus operates until 10:00 p.m. Starting at 8:30 p.m., we run back and forth between Capelle aan den IJssel and Krimpen aan den IJssel. Check out our additional schedules by clicking the button below.
